Where do you stand on Madonna? Personally, I LOVE the Material girl when she’s an unapologetic biatch, kicking arse in the charts, making pop music to sing along at the top of your voice to in the car and not caring one jot whether you take her or leave her. I also happen to like it when rather than going on about Kabbalah she’s talking S&M and getting in slagging matches with Elton John.
I really like the above clip of Girl Gone Wild from her new album MDNA which is released on March 26th and Madge is back to doing what she does best. I have tickets to see her during her world tour this summer and can not wait. I went to see her during her Hard Candy tour and was blown away by the b-tch’s stamina. She was skipping and singing at one stage for about six minutes straight in 40 degree heat!
I don’t want Madonna directing films, or acting or doing anything on or anywhere near the silver screen. But when she’s been in the recording studio, I love her. She’s a really terrible songwriter, her lyrics border on childish poetry. But it doesn’t seem to matter. It doesn’t have to be deep and meaningful to lift your mood and be the soundtrack to your life. I hated Give me all your Luv-ing when it came out, then it came on the radio yesterday and I was singing along without even realising what it was for a few minutes. Maybe when I heard it right before The Superbowl, I was still in a mood with Madonna for trying to inflict her directorial debut W.E. on us.
I promised some Jennifer Aniston plastic surgery secrets a few days ago, which I shall spill later. But for now, what do we know about 53-year-old Madonna Louise Ciccone? I’ve seen her close up a couple of times and she’s shorter and more fragile and less muscly-looking in person than you’d imagine.
Her plastic surgeon is the New York-based Dr. Daniel Baker and she has a second one, a dermatologist who does botox and fillers as needed every three months. Dr. Baker gave her a full facelift in early 2007 and she left the clinic at 4am so she wouldn’t get papped. Her dermatologist is Dr. Frederic Brandt, whose botox technique raises the eyebrow and he also injects collagen. Now, interestingly, poor old Madge went overboard on this kind of work in the year before her divorce to Guy Ritchie. She also hit the menopause full-tilt around then and I suppose she felt the need to go on the quest for eternal youth around the same time. Guy always wanted another biological kid and when her doctors told her it was too late, it caused tensions between them and made her stare her fear of getting old in the face- literally and figuratively.
But she seems over that now and is back to being the hard-faced, take no prisoners, old b-tch we know and love. No-one wants Madge insecure about her looks or anything else.
Madonna shrugged off her critics the other day and the single mum-of-four told The SUN on Sunday: ”At the end of the day I’m doing my best. If people don’t like it, then that’s really their problem.”
And, she stuck up for Adele, possibly incurring Chanel Grandad Karl Lagerfeld’s wrath saying how stupid he was for calling the Grammy winner fat: ”That’s horrible. That’s ridiculous, that’s just the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.
“I don’t like it when anybody says anything bad about anyone — I don’t like it. Adele’s a great talent and how much she weighs has nothing to do with it.
“The thing for Adele to remember is at the end of the day, whether you rise or fall, it has so much to do with how you sustain yourself and keep your integrity and your inner strength.
“It is all about who you surround yourself with — friends and people who really do care about you, and care about your well-being beyond being a superstar. That’s the most important thing.”
This is all great stuff and I’ve totally fallen in love with Madge all over again.
BTW. She drives a hard bargain with the nannies who look after her kids behind closed doors and pays them just £400 each a month to live-in (food and board they get on top of that). The kids all attend the posh Lycée Francais in New York where lessons are in French, which means that all four kids can yabber away to their mum’s boyfriend Brahim Zaibat , 24,in his native French. I always assumed she was paying him to date her but I spoke to one of his dance crew recently who insists they are very serious about each other.
Since she dumped the verbally abusive Brit and changed up for a young, hot French guy who does exactly as she tells him to do, the surgeries and nips/tucks seem to have become less of an obsession and happen with less alarming frequency.
I wonder if Madonna’s realised that you can spend thousands and thousands on plastic surgery but if you don’t feel good inside, you’ll never look good outside? She looks and sounds better than she has done in years.
Welcome back, you hot b-tch, I’ve missed you. Now tell us the real reason why you and Gwyneth fell out. You shagged Chris Martin- didn’t you?
