Although our sources tell us that Angelina Jolie has her stylist on the hunt for a vintage Christian Dior gown for her forthcoming wedding, I figured we could explore the 2013 bridal heavy hitters for ideas. It is unlikely Ange will wear white or any of it’s cousins, but our hope is that she will make a return to the human blood themed bridal wear of Jolie-nuptial folklore.
Maybe a pre-Brad, pre-Brangelina hysteria, pre-sainthood, pre-rainbow family Angelina would wear a sanguine gown, but it seems more plausable that she will just pick a cracking dress from Dior archives, or hit up Donatella for another Atelier Versace number. In terms of silhouette, Angie prefers prefers a slim line. The 2012 Oscars black velvet Versace with that enormous split skirt was a step outside her comfort zone, literally. Generally she chooses draped gowns in soft, light fabrics and favours high-cut strapless and long sleeved styles, over plunging necklines.
It is entirely possible that she will get caught up in the dreaminess of the event and go frou-frou but keep it dark and edgy. I think it will be a very simple column dress with sleeves like a pale version of the green Versace from the 2011 Golden Globes, or a massive skirted classic.
Fantasy sports betting website, ‘WagerMinds’, top picks are Versace 5:2, followed by Max Azria 3:1, Armani 7:1, and Elie Saab 8:1. Outside chances go to traditional bridal designers Carolina Herrera, Oscar De La Renta, Vera Wang and Kate Middleton’s favourites Packham and McQueen.
I trawled the Bridal Spring 2013 shows by Oscar De La Renta, Marchesa and Vera Wang, which ranged from pretty to morbid, and picked a few looks that might tickle Angelina’s fancy, and make us laugh. It would be really fun to see her make a return to cray-cray town fashion-wise. There’s one look I am dead-on sure she won’t be replicating:
