MUSIC: WHEN ELSIE MET HARRY… A GLIMPSE BACKSTAGE AT THE DIAMOND JUBILEE CONCERT

One of my favourite new singers Elsie – who is set to take the charts by storm when her single London Town is released on July 23rd – sang in front of 17 million TV viewers at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace on Monday night.

After lending her powerful vocals to Sir Tom Jones’s hits Mama Told Me Not to Come and Delilah on the stage, she joined Stevie Wonder in prayer before he performed and partied into the night with Prince Harry until 2am.

And, she’s written a diary of the evening to give Bohomoth readers a glimpse behind the scenes.

“Being a part of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert was probably one of the best experiences of my life,” writes Elsie.

“The whole atmosphere backstage was so positive and friendly – even with so many organizers running around looking frantic in Madonna-style headsets!

“You literally couldn’t walk three feet without bumping into a huge star, but there was no diva-style behaviour.

“Gary Barlow was rushing around everywhere looking busy but happy. He didn’t stop all night. Everyone wanted a picture with him.

“Being on stage singing was unbelievable. I was only on for two songs so I wanted to try and take everything in while I was there.

“The Mall looked like a long river of people stretching away from us.

“Stevie Wonder and his band really took me under their wing when I started taking the micky out of them for eating all the biscuits.

“They invited me to pray with them which was a very special moment and I couldn’t contain my excitement.

“There was a party for artists afterwards at the Palace and again, everyone was lovely.

“Sir Paul McCartney and his family were friendly to everyone and even made time for me despite all the huge names floating around.

“He introduced me to his wife and I had a good chat with his daughter Stella about her top which I wear in my new video for London Town.

“Kylie was as small as everyone always says she is and I spent the whole time stooping so I didn’t feel too much like a giant.

“At the end, I was naughty and got a picture with Prince Harry. You’re obviously not supposed to hassle the royals, but I thought “If he says yes, who can argue with him apart from his dad or his grandma?!” He was charming and happy to put his arm around me for a snap – so now I have a royal fan! Swoon!!!! I’m still buzzing now.”

Watch Elsie sing with Sir. Tom Jones in the video below.

  1. Mildred Fierce says:

Who can argue with Harry? Me, love. My granddad fought Rommel in North Africa. Odious little pr*ck.

    • BOHOMOTH says:

Aw I quite like Harry. I didn’t like any of the royals until the Jubilee and now I’m full of royal love!

I might go off them again in the coming weeks though.

      • Mildred Fierce says:

Harumph. They’re good for an extra bank holiday every ten years or so. They all guffawed like lunatics when Lenny Henry made that racist joke. B*stards.

        • BOHOMOTH says:

Oh you grump. You’re not going to take my Jubilee smile. AND I love Elsie. I do love a look behind the scenes at these bashes.

  2. Shana says:

Nothing thrills me more than being proven wrong. Tits out – no. Go you good thing!! I will help you anyway I can in Australia. Starting a new global business an; all

  3. Shana says:

I feel that the above comment was addressed to another posting. Apols.

As, for this one, MillyF. ‘INsideous’ is a strong word and I respect that very much. I think you’re great and pretty much the only reason I hang here. You, BOHO, Shiny, Heely, Betty and Luxy. xxx
