It really does take a gal of supermodel proportions to make a few done-to-death trends look fresh. Thought you were sick of wedge trainers, biker jackets and dropped crotch boyfriend jeans - think again, says Heidi Klum.
On a shopping trip to Whole Foods in LA yesterday with kids, Leni and Lou, and The Bodyguard, the Kluminator worked modern classics with en vogue elements for a dressed down urban look.
I am no fan of the dropped crotch pant, as favoured by Hollywood babies Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus. I will say however that as a woman who has changed her fair share of diapers, she's one of few that can walk around looking like she's carrying a load herself - and get away with it.
Perhaps it is the combination of the line of the raised sneaker, and the sleek modern edge to the leather jacket, and the splash of boho-femininity in the scarf that makes what could be a sad attempt at looking 'down with the kids', effortlessly cool.
I have said time-and-again that I prefer Heidi's street style over her TV and red carpet stylings - which tend to be a one-way ticket to slutsville.
Though the jeans here are impractical for most, I think there's still life in the chunky sneaker kicked off by Isabel Marant. There are good examples at Topshop, Asos and Marc Jacobs for those willing to take a risk that the trend will continue into 2013.
I'm a big believer that confidence is key to what you wear. So whether you're avant-garde, on-trend or classic in your styling, 'feeling it' is paramount to pulling it off.
