The first release of Brad Pitt’s ‘not a celebrity wine’ Chateau Miraval rosé went on sale at 9am this morning on their website and sold out in five hours.
The first 1000 cases of six bottles from the Southern France domaine were available- priced at €105 each and while Brad flew in from America for the launch, he didn’t do an official press conference or any official promotion- ahem, other than putting his name on the bottles.
The rest of the rosé goes on sale in a few weeks in local restaurants and the white and the red in the coming months.
Presumably he sat there in his den hoofing back glasses of the wine, watching the ticker on the site go down until the last bottle was sold and rubbing his hands together gleefully hoping that his extensive renovations at Miraval are going to be paid for in full soon.
Brad left it to his partner-in-wine Marc Perrin to do the promotion and they’ve released the below video of Marc Perrin and French wine critic (hey! why aren’t I doing that job?) Thierry Desseauve giving his opinion on the wine.
To summarise: He liked it.
Meanwhile workers at LAX should expect Brad to go through customs with a tell-tale clink clink sound from precisely 1000 bottles of rosé coming from his luggage.
