Madonna Might Dare To Be Different But Her Pumped Up New York Socialite Face Certainly Doesn’t…

Oh Madonna. The 55-year-old Queen of pop turned up at the 12 Years A Slave New York premiere last night and as you can see - the film's title could just as easily describe the terms of her plastic surgeon's retainer. As well as having a facelift, Madge is rumoured to have had cheek implants as well as numerous fillers - but why bother if you end up looking so... obviously plastic? And, answers on a postcard please if you have any idea where her ears have gone. The other day Madonna had a long essay published in Harper's Bazaar about how she's always been 'daring' and claimed that her whole life she's done the not expected thing. Well then why in the name of the pilsbury doughboy doesn't she do the daring thing with her appearance and allow herself to show off some well-earned wrinkles and a smudge of grey hair? Isn't getting a f-ckton of plastic surgery what every other 50-something New York socialite with an "embarrassment of riches" - as she put it - does and incredibly conformist, rather than her 'daring' to be different? Oh well, on the plus side she's taken her 'grills' out - poor old Brahim can sleep easy under the covers at night now (where is he by the way?) .

    It’s funny ’cause it’s true.

Memo to Carla Bruni. Madonna may look as silly as you but noone has ever enjoyed themselves listening to your music.

  2. Aisling O'Connor says:

    Go, go, gadget face.

  3. fluffypants says:

Nah leave her alone. If you discover a hairy dimple on your chin Madge then it’s probably time to stop.

In other news, I just shamelessly stole this from PB

  4. sassy says:

She’s heading into chipmunk cheek Ashley Judd territory

  5. Nick says:

I think Madonna is deluding herself with what she has achieved by being daring. She has spent her entire career constantly waiving her fanny at us while brandishing guns , fiddling with herself on stage and flaunting her contrived lesbian flings – all in the name of p̶u̶b̶l̶i̶c̶i̶t̶y̶ “Art” . All she has done is pave the way for the likes of Rhiana, Gaga and Miley to plummet ever lower depths. It is not liberating or empowering to women, it is degrading.

    • Mildred Fierce says:

Criticising her image as bad taste / exhibitionist etc is fair enough. Blaming her for the pornographication of popular culture doesnt wash. Two things are behind the pressures on female performers to be more and more sexually extreme in their image and performance : the internet and the porn it is saturated with.

And there’s plenty of feminist liberation theory out there arguing persuasively that porn culture can be read as a backlash against the important gains made in the struggle for gender equality in the 60’s-90’s.

Hate the game, not the player.

      • twiggy twiggy says:

“Hate the game, not the player.” MilF you are wise, and I may have a crunch on you.

        • Mildred Fierce says:

I’m crunching on you too twiggy and for Valentine’s day I’m gonna get you a J’aime le cinéma tee shirt from Agnès B xxx

  6. Flffgrrrlr says:

Ah but it’s disappointing to us mere mortals that she feels the need to f*ck with her face to this extent. But ya know, she’s always done exactly what she pleases.

I think that some women forget that the beauty of a face is in its movement and expression. Women get so obsessed at pulling pouty faces in the mirror, they forget this isn’t how they look in everyday life to people. Then, women like these who get photographed a lot are maybe willing to sacrifice that to always look picture perfect – a la Kidman. Maybe once they’ve messed with their face so much they lose sight of the fact that it looks so odd. And since youth is increasing privileged, of course women don’t want to get old and disappear.

But I think we all hoped Madge would be super human and immune to this shiz. Turns out she’s just a woman, like the rest of us. She just thinks, screw wrinkles, I can afford not to have them.

Yay to no more grills, boo to the puffy face
