Dallas Buyer’s Club
12 Years A Slave
Wolf of Wall Street
Winner: Dallas Buyer’s Club, honorary mention: Blue Jasmine
A toss up between 12 Years A Slave - which everyone should see and had Jen who hasn’t admitted to crying in public for a decade in floods of tears – and Dallas Buyer’s Club, which was equally as heartbreaking and well-acted but just that teeny bit more watchable and concisely told and directed with a clear story arc.
Dallas Buyer’s Club is an instant classic which will be watched and enjoyed by movie fans the world over for many years to come.
Ant0scar’s pick: Blue Jasmine
Controversial list this – Blue Jasmine seems to be overlooked on most of the big award shortlists this year. For that reason alone, I give the Best Film award to it. Oh and the fact that Cate and the underrated Mr. Maggie Gyllenhaal (Peter Sarsgaard) acted their socks off in it.
