Was the unofficial theme of the UNICEF Snowflake Ball in Cipriani Wall Street in New York last night, Fifty Shades of Gothic?
On sight of Katy Perry’s midnight blue web-like gown and cape by Michelle Obama’s current favourite, Naeem Khan, I was neither shocked nor turned off by how Halloweeny she looked with the witchy dramatics of the gown and severe centre split hair. Katy’s a Goth now.
No surprise really, only for the accidental thematic dress-code among the other high-profile guests, Uma Thurman and Selena Gomez – which made Perry look like Morticia Addams by association (and side note: she overdid it with the tonal accessories, as usual).
Uma also went for midnight blue in a perfectly nice, albeit a little heavy-looking, Atelier Versace gown.
Doesn’t she look like a negative of Lily Munster? Also the awkward bodice up close, bothers me to no end. AND velvet should be avoided between the ages of 30 and 60. Uma is looking great for her 42 years but this funereal fabric is anything but youthful.
Fresh outta the teen breakup of the year, Selena Gomez went sexy Gothic in a velvet paneled, embroidered Dolce & Gabanna halter gown.
A Disney friendly Elvira, if you will.
Katy must have been PISSED that her look’s thunder was stolen on a generational level.
Good looks all but together they look like hostesses at a theme bar.

Welcome back Shiny! Hope all is well!
I love Selena’s, though she is too young for it.
