CHRISTIAN DIOR FIRSTS: RAF SIMONS’ PRE-FALL COLLECTION & THE ADVENT OF CHRISTIAN DIOR DENIM

This peak at Raf Simons’ first pre fall, runway-less collection for Christian Dior is brought to you by the very same themes that rendered the creative designer’s first collections under the Dior tutelage successes: a modern reinvention of classic minimalism.

But, according to WWD, Simons is also continuing the trend that Miuccia Prada perfected with her latest collection… so cue the luxury denim, and a dose of democratic reality. As the Belgian designer puts it, the house of Dior is experimenting with new codes but, this time, “for a lot of different body types.”

For pre fall, Raf Simons continues with his interpretation of Le Smoking, classic prints and fabrics. Full skirts and accentuated waists are still a part of the Dior repertoire; for this presentation, however, it seems that Simons is sticking with traditional patterns and a youthful, feminine silhouette as exemplified by the inevitable introduction of Christian Dior denim in five different fits.
