Aw this is sad. Ashley Judd has split from her husband of ten years Dario Franchitti and released a statement confirming the news to Us Weekly yesterday.
The 44-year-old actress wrote a memoir a few years ago detailing her difficult childhood and battle to overcome the grief that stemmed from that as an adult, so I hope that she can summon some strength to not let her no doubt heart-wrenching decision to divorce throw her off-kilter.
I’ve never really had dealings with her myself but I remember having a conversation with a PR who had dealt with her whilst she was staying in Paris promoting some project or other, telling me a number of hair-raising tales from that trip.
One was that she had this insane fear of germs and dragged an antique arm chair into her hotel suite shower (and ruined it in the process) and whilst that’s nothing by Hollyweird crazy levels I got the firm impression that she’s, ahem, a tad eccentric.
She said in her book that thanks to her humanitarian work she’s healed herself by healing others, which could be PR spin for ‘stop calling me crazy because I’m now not-so secretly an angel who gives selflessly to others’ a la Angelina, but let’s hope that the divorce doesn’t throw a spanner in that works as it were.
I would not be surprised if he pushed for the split. I’ve heard he’s been unhappy for a long time.

Jason Patric called her a lazy and arrogant actress. I had even read a story how she would have stones that if she would hand you than you couldn’t talk to her unless she took the stones back. Everyone on the movie set just hated her. I don’t understand why that could be? She seems so pleasant.
