Rihanna has what every girl inspires to have…she is the face of her generation.
Kind words from Riccardo Tisci for Chris Brown’s punching-bag-in-waiting, in discussion of his designs for her Diamonds World Tour.
Though I think the untouchable dark hand at Givenchy meant well, the mention of Rihanna’s face, and a generation of impressionable girls doesn’t have the most positive of associations.
Ricardo was tasked with creating looks for the first act of RiRi’s show and came up with (over to you Vogue UK):
The opening outfit consists of a “dark and romantic” black floor-length ruffled silk-crepe cape and black nappa thigh-high boots. Other pieces include an embroidered parka, a white leather bra and silk satin mini shorts.
The stage show which kicked off in Buffalo, NY on Friday, was an assortment of street-boy-meets-street-walker looks.
The highlights were clearly the pieces by the french couturier:
The influence of the Barbadian starlet’s fashion BFF (and co-conspirator on her hiddy River Island line), Adam Selman, is more prolific. It’s a fairly awful parade if you ask me, save for the Givenchy, and the red beach outfit. I can’t cope with the insane crotch on the cartoon SaltN’Pepa pants.
Though Rihanna tweeted to the opening night crowd, “I will never forget how you made me feel tonight!!!”, the cancellation of her second date in Boston last night would suggest that the sentiment disappeared in a puff of smoke on the tour bus when she somehow woke up with laryngitis.
Fingers crossed for her fans that she recovers soon, and we get a proper gander at that fierce Givenchy parka.
