Oh Madge. You know I totes heart you, but sometimes you make it so tough. In the same week that an Andy Warhol photo of her emerges – seen here with Jellybean Benitez – looking so cool, another emerges that makes me wonder if she’s going over the edge.
Madonna tweeted the following picture to her followers this week, menacingly warning them that “…the Grillzz are here to. Stay! So There! If you Don’t like don’t follow!” [I would just like to point out that the horrendous punctuation in that sentence is not my work, but 100% Ciccone-driven.]
I wonder if there is a link between this level of vacuity and her becoming the Forbes top-earning celebrity of the year ($125 million, apparently). I mean, if you have that kind of money, do you search for ways of separating yourself from the mainstream and, upon finding it, kid yourself that you’re ahead of the curve and avant-garde when actually you’re morphing into the celebrity equivalent of a crazy cat lady?
For those of you who want to remember her in the good old days, the Warhol exhibition – I’ll Be Your Mirror – will open in New York’s Design Center on September 3. Oh, and Liza, Liz and Diana feature too…
