I never thought I’d say this, but thank God Michelle Williams has a movie to promote. I am tiring of the Stone/Stewart/Middleton/Perry/Longoria fashion mill. They’re not all bad, and I am grateful to Stewart and Perry for giving me material to work with. However, Williams is a pet peeve celebrity of mine from a style perspective, so I am delighted to have not one, but two opportunities to give her a judgmental once-over.
Michelle hasn’t done press since the Tribeca Film Festival in late April. Since then she has presumably been kicking back with her kid, and watching Netflicks with Jason Segel. She must be getting some because the twee Peter Pan looks have been phased out – hopefully permanently.
For an appearance on CBS This Morning yesterday to promote her latest movie ‘Take This Waltz’, she brought ’60s mod Michelle to the table. I quite enjoy this look of a Jason Wu floral print Resort 2013 shift and Tabatha Simmons black platform suede loafers.
You kind of have to hand it to her for combining such a heavy shoe with a summery dress. I think it works because the green and yellow print, though light, has the air of a medicated ’60s housewife’s kitchen wallpaper to it. The shoe compliments the underlying darkness of the floral.
There was no sign of depression at the screening for the movie last night in NYC, to which Williams wore an Altuzarra black dress and the ubiquitous Givenchy two-strap.
I rilly, rilly want to get behind this look, just as a show of ‘burn yer scalloped collars’, but as I said yesterday lattice effect anything bugs me to distraction. The dress is so perfect for her in every other way: slim straps, a below knee length, the whisper of a split and the feature neckline.
I just cannot bear the criss-crossed lace-up front, with redundant go-go dancer tassels hanging there waiting for a money-maker-shaking that will never materialise.
You will not be surprised that I believe the white shoe to make no sense whatsoever with a black dress and black clutch.
Still good work out of the comfort zone, Michelle. Please keep trying. There is an adult inside of you ready to sack your inner Little Lord Fauntleroy.

Oh I respectfully disagree. The green dress looks hideous on her, it was linked on DLRB from the DM

But the black dress and her face look so much better on her and she looks attractive for once.
No one will ever take away her Marilyn.
Tasssel’s off the tits luv, unless you can swing like Elvira did – still does?
